About Kristin Doherty
Psychotherapist, Owner of Pacific Cove Psychotherapy
Welcome to Pacific Cove Psychotherapy! I’m Kristin Doherty, a psychotherapist and Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with the Board of Behavioral Sciences in the state of California (License #133696).
My formal clinical training was received through the Department of Veterans Affairs, where I gained extensive experience providing evidence-based psychotherapy to military veterans and their partners. I specialized in treating PTSD (combat and sexual trauma), Depression, Anxiety, Panic, Grief and Couples. My clinical training leans heavily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with emphasis on trauma informed and attachment focused perspectives.
Prior to serving our nation’s veterans, I worked in both inpatient hospital and outpatient clinical settings, providing individual, group and family psychotherapy. My clinical background also includes conducting emergency psychiatric evaluations in high-acuity environments, including hospital emergency departments, correctional facilities, and on Native American lands, requiring thorough risk assessment, crisis intervention and multi-disciplinary collaborative care.
In addition to my clinical practice, I have been actively involved in professional education and mentorship. I have supervised graduate level-Master of Social Work Students, served as a guest speaker for graduate level higher education programs and provided employee mental health education for organizations including NASA.
Outside of my work as a therapist, I am a proud mother and wife who understands the complexities of balancing it all. I strive to approach both my personal and professional life through the values of integrity, honesty and compassion, while remembering to stay present, enjoy the moment and soak up as much of the California sun as possible.
