Privacy Policy

At Pacific Cove Psychotherapy, your privacy is our priority. We follow strict HIPAA and ethical guidelines to protect your privacy using a secure HIPPA compliant system for communication, record-keeping and services. According to California State and Federal Laws, information cannot be released without your written permission.

Exceptions to privacy include:

  • If a patient is experiencing suicidal thoughts with a plan and intent to harm themselves, and the patient and therapist cannot secure a plan for safety, the therapist is required by law to report this safety concern and violate privacy to ensure your safety.

  • If a patient is experiencing thoughts of harming someone else and has an active plan and intent to harm that person, and the patient and therapist cannot secure a plan to ensure safety of the person, the therapist is required by law to report this safety concern and violate your privacy to ensure their safety.

  • If the therapist learns there is suspected child abuse or elder abuse, the therapist is required by law to report suspected abuse to child protective and adult protective services as deemed appropriate.
